About

NEW DATES The Metro vs. Florida Challenge was originally held on Thanksgiving weekend to give teams an early look at how they stack up against tough competition at the beginning of the season. In 2017-18 and 2018-19, because the FHSAA season did not actually start until the week after Thanksgiving, we moved the event to Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Now that the FHSAA basketball season has shifted back to being earlier relative to the school year, starting in November 2019, we are back to our original plan of Thanksgiving weekend!

The Metro vs. Florida Challenge is an event hosted by Apopka High School each year to test the skills of the Orlando-Metro Conference, widely regarded as one of the strongest regions of high school men's basketball in the state and perhaps the country, with a number of teams from this area frequently represented in state playoffs and championship games. In each game of this event, the Metro Conference puts its reputation on the line as one of its teams challenges another team from elsewhere in the State of Florida.
